Forgacs Marine and Defence is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Civmec Group company who are an integrated multi-disciplined construction and engineering services provider to the oil and gas, metals and minerals, infrastructure and marine and defence markets.

Forgacs Marine and Defence has been established to support the Australian defence market through shipbuilding construction, ship re-fit & repair, specialist piping and mechanical work, surface protection and specialist insulation, vessel sustainment, civil and bulk earthworks and associated defence infrastructure.

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior QC Inspectorto join our ship re-fit project team on a Casual basis located in Yamba, Northers NSW. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible to oversee shipyard activities of all disciplines in alignment with quality procedures, methodology, client requirements and standard practice to complete scope of works as defined by the Project Manager.

Key responsibilities
  • Perform work in accordance with the Quality Assurance management systems procedures and work instructions
  • Liaise with client representative for all quality related issues
  • Prepare Inspection and Test Plans for all disciplines
  • Ensure Inspection and Test Activities carried in accordance with the approved Inspection and Test Plan.
  • Ensure notification of Client witness and Hold points as per the approved Inspection and Test Plan.
  • Undertake general welding, painting & pipe fabrication inspection duties
  • Prepare and assist in welding traceability issues
  • Ensure material traceability is being maintained.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of corporate and project specific documentation and review Manufacturers Data Reports (MDR)
  • Report on product and process non-conformance and product preservation
  • Monitor the calibration of inspection and testing equipment
  • Coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Post Weld Heat Treatment PWHT) requirements
  • Review and approve all test reports
  • Organise and assist with welding qualification verification
  • Monitor and Report on handling and storage of materials and consumable
About you
  • Certification Scheme for Welding & Inspection Personnel (CSWIP) 3.1or 3.2 is highly desirable
  • NACE level 1 or higher
  • White Card/Blue Card
  • Working at heights and confined space preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role in the marine industry is advantageous
  • Microsoft office suit
  • Able to compile MDR’s
  • Developed interpersonal and communication skills
