HSEQ Advisor/Trainer
An opportunity now exists for an experienced Occupational Health & Safety, Environment and Quality Advisor / Technical Trainer to join the HSEQ team based in either our Victoria or New South Wales team. The outstanding applicant will be responsible for driving Cape’s strong values throughout the business by mentoring, training and advising line managers on all matters relating to OHS, environment, quality and training. The HSEQ Advisor / Trainer will ensure Workplace Health and Safety requirements are implemented, monitored and maintained within the area of responsibility and to coordinate the OHS team within that area. It will be important for you to conduct regular internal audits as part of your role.
This is challenging role that will allow someone with a passion for safety, training and a commitment to continuous improvement, to gain valuable experience within the Industrial services industry and make their mark on our successful business operations. This position will be based in Somersby, New South Wales, but will involve extensive travel within the East Coast Region.

Main Activities
- Ensure policies and procedures within Cape’s Management System (CMS) are implemented and maintained to meet Management System Requirements
- Ensure that all statutory HSEQ requirements, standards and construction procedures are complied with.
- Audit sites to a recognised level in line with our ISO and OHSAS accreditations.
- Conduct site OHS inspections on a regular basis and ensure adequate records are kept.
- Provide advice and information to all site personnel in relation to OHS requirements.
- Manage all aspects of the return to work system for the Victorian, Tasmanian and New South Wales areas of the business.
- Actively promote Cape’s ethos of maintaining a safe working environment and having regard to the effect the operations have on our environment.
- Ensure all activities are carried out with due regard to safe working practice, OHS of personnel and the integrity of the site.
- Ensure that the work is being executed in accordance with Cape and the client’s Safety specifications and instructions.
- Prepare and submit all relevant OHS reporting requirements for approval by management
- Carry out training and Verification of Competencies in line with the required standard set out by our Registered Training Organisation.
- Lead, and help, in the development of new courses as required by business needs.
To be successful in this position, you must possess relevant experience along with:
- Cert IV in OHS
- Cert IV Training and Assessment
- OHS, Env or QA auditing qualification
- Sound knowledge of Australian OHS and Environmental legislation and standards
- Flexibility and ability to manage competing demands
- Strong IT, communication and negotiation skills
- Experience working remotely, but as part of a team
- Drivers License
- Experience in an Industrial Services Industry
- Advanced Scaffolding qualification
- Competencies in Elevated Work Platform, Working at Heights and Confined spaces
- Return to Work coordinator qualification
