Tronox is the world's largest integrated titanium minerals production and manufacturing company.

Our Cooljarloo mine site is located near Cataby, about 170km North of the CBD. The mine offers a range of lifestyle options including the opportunity to reside in coastal towns such as Lancelin or Jurien Bay. Whilst on roster it is a requirement that the employee will stay in our single person’s accommodation . This position operates on a DIDO 7 days on 7 days off basis.

Reporting to the Group Leader of Safety at the Cooljarloo site, the Safety Officer is a key member of the site safety group. The Safety Officer is responsible for contributing to and implementing the site Safety & Health program with the aim of enabling Tronox to achieve its strategic and operational objectives in a safe and healthy environment that is fully compliant with relevant government legislation.

 Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide immediate care to site based personnel and assist in subsequent injury management – return to work.
  • Be camp based and on call for immediate care.
  • Actively engage in the upfront job planning process to ensure safety components of tasks are understood and appropriate controls are in place.
  • Assist in the development of and maintenance of all site registers that are required by the Corporate Safety Standards including emergency response plans.
  • Conduct inspections of relevant site safety equipment, e.g. Gas detectors, harnesses, lifting equipment etc.
  • Assist with contractor management on site.
  • Conduct regular site evacuation drills, record and feedback any recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain up to date information on site safety notice boards.
  • Maintaining hazardous substances register and approval system.
  • Participate in incident investigations when required.
  • Assist with audits, inspections and technical reports.
  • Actively participate & recommend improvements in onsite activities such as Planned Inspections, Behavioural Observations, and Toolbox meetings across site.
  • Undertake FFW monitoring and testing in accordance with the sites schedule.
  • Make on going recommendation to ensure the induction content is kept up-to date and relevant and assist in the delivery of the induction program.
  • Previous experience in an ERT role and be able to meet the physical requirement of such a role
