Forgacs Marine and Defence has been established to support the Australian defence market through shipbuilding construction, ship re-fit & repair, specialist piping and mechanical work, surface protection and specialist insulation, vessel sustainment, civil and bulk earthworks and associated defence infrastructure.
We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our project team on a Casual basis located in Yamba NSW. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible to ensure full technical compliance with the scope of work and specifications issued by the client and ensure the intent of the business, shipyard and client are maintained in alignment with the Project schedule.

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our project team on a Casual basis located in Yamba NSW. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible to ensure full technical compliance with the scope of work and specifications issued by the client and ensure the intent of the business, shipyard and client are maintained in alignment with the Project schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Liaise with client representatives regarding technical queries, inspections, project scheduling and coordinating deliveries, and attend operational/progress meeting regularly
- Understand and implement quality control techniques
- Ensure the company's objectives and policies are adhered to
- Budget control and procurement speciation’s
- Develop, monitor and review design changes to assess the effect on project budget and schedule
- Assist in the preparation of progress claims and variations
- Preparation of work schedules and material requisitions
- Review and approve technical deviation/query requests and maintain TDQR register
- Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
- Previous new shipbuilding, ship re-fit and repair, and sound knowledge of project controls
- Proficient knowledge in MS Office suite and AutoCAD is essential
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
