The opportunity
Civmec is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time position located at our corporate offices in Henderson, Western Australia. This position will be responsible to develop and implement project control support, including cost control and planning function for all construction projects across Australia.

As a Senior Project Controls Engineer, you will
  • Work directly with and support Operations Manager, Project Managers, and Project based Planners and Cost Controllers to support in the execution of all project controls processes and systems on projects ranging from proposal to close-out phases.
  • Support preparation of Forecast at Completion by various approaches, including entering invoice and accrual data in extensive forecast spreadsheets, performing thorough QC check of result and spreadsheet; and working with PMs to develop FTCs and determine accrued costs.
  • Assist in the creation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), schedules, spend forecasts, revenue forecasts, cash flows and other project related documents.
  • Provide support for intermediate planning and scheduling for baseline, resources, and progress tracking needs.
  • Implement and execute proper controls to proactively support, monitor, and communicate budget, actual status, and forecast costs, labour hours, and quantities for projects.
  • Take the lead in the development and maintenance of periodic status reports to keep management and/or client informed on the project progress.
  • Work with Contract Administrators and Project Managers to answer tender estimate questions and resolve claims issues, ensuring the correct application of Civmec procedures; provide support documentation as necessary to Contract Administrators
  • Ensure that correct direct, indirect, and other rates and labour categories are used in projects coordinating correct application with Project Managers as necessary.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in the development and monitoring of the annual budget
  • Prepare cash flows plans after initial contract by developing spreadsheet charts laying out planned expenditures versus time and charting actual costs as they are incurred.
About You
  • Relevant Engineering tertiary qualification
  • Prior experience in a similar Senior role on construction projects in the mining and infrastructure sectors within a contractor environment
  • Working knowledge of planning and cost control processed and techniques
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills with Excel, ERP system(s) and Primavera (P6)
